Maureen Broderick Wilhelm, PT

President

Maureen graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  Maureen began her career in Houston, Texas at Park Plaza Hospital working in an acute care environment.  In 1983 Maureen returned to her east coast roots and joined Sports Training Physical Therapy of New York as the Assistant Director of Physical Therapy.  In 1985 Maureen opened Sports Training Physical Therapy of New Jersey working hand in hand with the well known personal training facility, Sports Training Institute.  Maureen has been in the outpatient orthopaedic environment for the last 25 years specializing in sports medicine.  Maureen and her staff provided physical therapy care for the New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils from 1986 though 1988.  She has attended extensive continuing education courses throughout her career with extensive focus on orthopaedics and sports medicine and has taught several courses herself on “The Benefits of Aquatic Rehabilitation” and “The Physical Therapist’s Role in the Treatment of Fibromyalgia”.

Maureen is a member of the National American Physical Therapy Association, the New Jersey APTA and the New Jersey Society of Independent Physical Therapists (NJSIPT) and sits on the Reimbursement Committee for the National Private Practice Section of the APTA.

Maureen has opened more than 18 physical therapy offices in the last 25 years and currently spends the majority of her time involved in administrative functions.  She is pursing her transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is currently enrolled in the tDPT program at Rocky Mountain University.

 

Amy Lower, PT

Amy graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 2000.  Amy’s experience in the field includes not only a 7 year emphasis in outpatient orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation but a work history in the New Jersey school system and patient home care services.  Amy’s continuing education has focused on orthopedics and manual therapy.   

Amy is a competitive runner herself and has a dedicated following of runners and triathletes that she treats as injuries arise. 

 

Margaret Haughey, PT, ATC

Margaret has been practicing Physical Therapy for 23 years.  She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1984 and completed her sports medicine training at Brooklyn College, finishing their Internship program in Athletic Training in 1990.  She has specialized throughout her career in orthopedic manual therapy and sports medicine, having also worked at the high school level as a Certified Athletic Trainer where she taught introductory and advanced sports medicine classes.  Ms. Haughey has particular specialties in pitching biomechanics and rehabilitation, as well as orthotic and shoe wear prescription.
 
Margaret was certified in 2006 by the International Weightlifting Association as a Certified Strength Training Specialist and is currently involved in doing a lot of work in strength and conditioning in the clinic and on the playing field.

Susan Medford, PT, MTC

Susan graduated from Hunter College with a BS in physical therapy in 1988.  In September of 2000 she earned a Masters of Science Degree in Manual Therapy and Orthopedics from the University of Health Science at St. Augustine and is one of only a limited number of certified manual physical therapists in the state of NJ.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  An instructor for the College of Staten Island’s Physical Therapy program since its inception 14 years ago, Susan teaches Orthopedic Evaluation and Joint  Manipulation of the Upper and Lower extremities as well as Comprehensive Evaluation and Treatment of the Spine. Susan has worked in outpatient orthopedics for over 18 years, and has been the Director of outpatient care in the Hazlet area for the last 10 years.

Brian Simon, MSPT, CWT

Brian graduated from the City University of New York with a combined Bachelors/Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 1997.  Brian was certified as a weight training specialist through the International Weightlifting Association in 2005.  Since 1997, Brian’s focus has been in outpatient orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation with a focus on manual therapy.  His experiences also include his work as an acute care supervisor, home health care provider and long term care practitioner.  Brian worked in New York within the Sisters of Charity HealthCare System prior to moving with his family to NJ and working as the Director of outpatient services in the Wall/Spring Lake area since 2002.

 

Dina Traficante, MSPT, CWT

Dina graduated from Richard Stocken College of NJ in 1998 with a BS in Biology and in 2000 with a Masters in Physical Therapy.  Dina was an All-Conference catcher for the women's softball team while at Richard Stockton.  Dina was certified as a weight training specialist through the International Weightlifting Association in 2005. She began her career at South Jersey Hospital, the Millville Division, in an acute care setting.  In 2001 Dina transitioned to the outpatient orthopaedic setting and has since worked exclusively with patients with orthopaedic and sports injuries.  Dina’s experience also includes working with patients in an aquatic therapy environment.

Kim A. Miller, PT, ATC

Kim graduated from Kean College/ UMDNJ with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 1991.  Kim received her Athletic Training Certification from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2003, working with college athletes involved in football, men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, basketball and field hockey.  Kim has been with Sports Training Physical Therapy since 1993 and has worked in outpatient orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation for the last 14 years.  She has an extensive background of continuing education courses emphasizing manual therapy and functional/sport specific exercise training.    

Kim’s hobbies include traveling, sports, exercising and spending time with her two adorable nephews, Christopher and Salvatore.

Magda Lenkowski-Cauley, PT
East Hanover

Magda graduated from Dominican University in Chicago with a Bachelors Degree in Biology in 1998.   Magda moved to New Jersey in 1999 and enrolled in the Masters Degree Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating with an MS in Physical Therapy in 2002.  Magda has specialized in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation for the last 5 years and attends several continuing education courses each year to stay abreast of all of the newest techniques and approaches in the field.

Magda was born and raised in the southeast part of Poland until the age of 15 before moving to Chicago.  Magda and her husband now reside in Essex County where she is active in the local community and volunteers at the Bloomfield/Bukowski Animal Shelter taking care of abandoned animals.  Magda hopes to someday obtain a canine and feline specialty in Physical Therapy.

 

Patricia “Trish” Chambers, PT
East Hanover

Trish graduated from Quinnipiac College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 1988.  Trish worked as a traveling therapist for many years, working in Georgia, Alabama and Missouri, gaining vast experience in the field in a multitude of settings and cultures before returning to New Jersey in 2000.  Trish’s experiences included volunteering with the Red Cross at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games.  She has over 18 years of experience with a concentration in outpatient orthopaedics and a special interest in manual therapy.

Trish’s hobbies include travel, photography and sports.

 

Kim Polimeni, MSPT
Newton

Kim graduated from Utica College in 2001 with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy.  Prior to her masters degree, Kim received a B.S. in Health Sciences in 2000 at the Utica College of Syracuse University as well as a B.S in Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1993.  Kim has worked in the outpatient orthopaedic arena since January of 2002, specializing in the rehabilitation of general orthopaedic conditions and adolescent sports injuries.  Kim also provides home care physical therapy services in Essex and Morris counties. Kim’s continuing education includes but is not limited to sacroiliac joint dysfunction, lumbar mobilization, shoulder injuries as well as foot/ankle and running injuries.

Kim participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in 2006 and enjoys kayaking and outdoor activities.

 

 

Colleen Bystrak, PT

Colleen graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton Texas in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy.  She began her career in the acute care setting at Middlesex Hospital in New Brunswick for 3 years before joining Sports Training Physical Therapy in 1986. Colleen has been in the outpatient orthopaedic setting for the last 20 years specializing in general orthopaedics and adolescent sports medicine.  She has attended extensive continuing education courses throughout her career with an emphasis on orthopaedic rehabilitation.  Colleen has specialties in Neuromuscular Release Techniques and TMJ dysfunction.  Colleen is a “hands on”, manually oriented physical therapist dedicated to giving each of her patients personal and individual attention and the best care possible.

 

 

Tom Reinhardt, PT

Tom graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1982.  Tom began his career in a rehabilitation setting at Kessler Institute for 5 years.  In 1987 Tom joined Sports Training Physical Therapy and has been involved in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation for the last 19 years.  Tom has been the Director of Physical Therapy for Sports Training PT at the Chatham Club location for the last 17 years.  Tom has taken extensive continuing education courses focusing on orthopaedic and manual therapy skills and has a special interest in the rehabilitation of golf injuries.

Tom is married with 3 children and enjoys sports, camping and hiking.  

 

 

Priti Rao, PT

Priti graduated in 1992 from Bombay University in India with a Masters of Science Degree in Physical Therapy majoring in Orthopaedics.  Priti moved to the United States in 1993 and began her career working at Mercer Medical Center and Physical Therapy and Sport Services/NovaCare before joining Sports Training Physical Therapy in their Chatham location in 1997.  Priti has been in the Chatham location for 10 years and has 15 years of experience in treating various orthopaedic and sports injuries.  In 1996, Priti participated in various discussion groups regarding physical therapy for the spine (McKenzie Techniques) in South Jersey/Pennyslvania. She has attended numerous continuing educations courses in orthopaedics and manual therapy keeping her abreast of current techniques.

Priti enjoys running and her hobbies include tennis and outdoor activities.

 

Rocio Cota-Duran, DPT

Rocio graduated from Rutgers University in 1999 with a degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies.  Rocio worked as a physical therapy tech at HealthSouth from 1999 to 2003 before returning to school at the New York Medical College, graduating with a doctorate in physical therapy in May 2006.  Rocio’s education included five clinical experiences along with her Doctoral Project “Injury Prevention for Runners – A Multimedia Educational Tool: Hip and Knee Injury Prevention”.  Rocio began her career as a practicing DPT with Sports Training Physical Therapy in September of 2006.

Rocio has a strong interest in orthopaedic and manual therapy.

Carl Malatesta, PT, CHT

Carl graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1995.  Carl completed a 6 month hand fellowship at Texas Women’s University in Houston in 2001 and was certified in Advanced Practice in Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation through Drexel University in 2003.  Carl was certified as a hand therapist by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission in 2002.  Carl began his career at Kessler Rehabilitation Hospital in East Orange and has spent the last 10 years specializing in outpatient orthopaedic, sports and workers comp rehabilitation.  Carl provides on-site splinting, bracing and custom fabrication of hand orthoses. Carl is also trained in the Graston Technique, an instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization technique that effectively breaks down scar tissue and fascial restriction.
